There are many emotions, many opinions - as a lot of us have set out to work


Some are excited, some apprehensive, some worried and to get back to little bit of 'old normal',

there are definitely many things about the current environment that are worrisome.

What if I catch the virus?

Is it safe to go there?

Buses - are they safe?

I have elderly or kids at home, how do I keep them protected?

Where are we in terms of treatment?


The WHO launched the “Solidarity” Trial as means to help find an effective treatment of COVID-19. The most recent update on May 27, 2020 advised pausing the use of HCQ (anti-malarial drug) due to safety reasons. There are three other drugs being investigated.


Ministry of Ayush - has given a lot of tips - practicing yoga, breath work, Ayurveda, Homeopathy


Where are we with respect to vaccination?


Currently, there are many companies who have started human clinical trials with vaccinations against COVID-19, and have seen a good result, yet it will be many months before we can actually have a vaccine at hand


In the midst of this - What do we do?


Logically we have accept the 'new normal' - for the next few months


Best thing you can do is follow the guidelines set by the WHO and take active steps to support your Immunity


For starters social distancing, practicing hand hygiene, wearing a mask while being outdoors to meet people are going to reduce the risk of catching the virus.


How do I support my Immune System?


Diet


  • Your diet plays a huge role when in comes to boosting your immune system

  • Eat all food groups

  • Eat in Moderation

  • Avoid processed foods

  • Eat fresh home cooked meals

  • Avoid Alcohol, smoking - these are known to impact the immune system adversely

  • Drink a lot of water

  • Eat 2 fruits a day to get your antioxidants in order

  • Eat an Amla a day - in any form

  • Ghee - 2-3 tsps a day with your meals


Exercise


  • Exercise is a non-negotiable aspect of Immunity Building

  • 3 times a week - minimum

  • Workout from home there are so many apps and videos to help you


Activity


  • Be active through the day

  • Follow every 5 minutes of sitting with 200 steps of walking


Sleep


  • Another non-negotiable aspect of Immunity Building

  • Without sufficient sleep, your body makes fewer cytokines, a type of protein that targets infection and inflammation, effectively creating an immune response.

  • Chronic sleep loss even makes the flu vaccine less effective by reducing your body’s ability to respond.
